Art of Soul! 2026 is determined by two rounds of judging performed by a panel of jurors. In the first round, the panel will review all entries digitally and anonymously. Based on this evaluation, participants will be selected for inclusion. After the show is installed, the jurors will then appear in person for the second round of judging. At this time, they will evaluate for the show's awards, including the following prizes, which will be awarded to one (1) entry per award. Best of Show is awarded to the entry that best displays the art principle of unity while capturing the spirit of America 250: Our Story and the African American Experience. (Unity in art: the harmony or oneness of elements and principles of art). People’s Choice is awarded to the work that receives the most votes from the public within the specified period. In the event of multiple winners within this category the prize will be split. Any artist(s) who is awarded Best of Show will be ineligible for the same prize the following year of the Art of Soul! Juried Art Show.

During the celebration, NAAMCC will also present the NAAMCC Legacy Award, given to a pioneering artist whose long career in the field has served as an inspiration to others. The recipient of this award may or may not be a participant in the current Art of Soul! show.
